Dr Who - The Age of Acquarius - Scene 7

Pause, then “Here, read it yourself”.

The Doctor reads Leo,

”You will meet the person of your dreams today, a tall dark stranger, who seems to be distracted, on a journey, but is very interesting”.


The Doctor then looks at Dave for a moment.

“Dave, this is not what I read on the train, just before all those people died”.

“It’s what I wrote”. However, its weird, but Fred Simpson, the sports reporter, had this habit of reading the stars out in the morning. When he got to Leo, I didn’t recognize the words, and then, then he got to the last words. You know, today is the day you die. I felt a chill, and then 5 people, 5 friends, just collapsed and died”.

“Why, Doctor, why did that happen?”

“I don’t know, I don’t know. But I will find out, and I will stop it happening to anyone else. But Dave, to do that I’m going to need your help.”

Dave “Why me, I don’t understand.”

“I don’t either Dave, but I put you here for a reason. Guess we should find out why.”

“Hang on, I didn’t read it either. The girl on the train read it out aloud. The same words, today is the day you die. (the Doctor's thought appear to drift) The girl on the train, I don’t even know her name”.

Pause, silence. They both look out the window. Not at anything in particular, but we know they are seeing the horrors of today again, replaying them in their minds eye. As for anyone who has seen horror, it is something they will replay many times.

We return to the Doctor. Clearly his thoughts have returned to the problem at hand.

“Dave, it isn’t the words you wrote. This is some sought of reverse desire thought transference (Dave looks a little confused). Essentially a form a mass hypnosis. Someone, or someone, managed to trick people into reading, not your words, and not what they wanted to read, but the last thing they wanted to read.”

“No one wants to read a horoscope that tells them they are about to die, that today is the day you are going to die”. The shock of reading that would normally be just that, shock. Some might die, the weak, the ill, the weird. But most wouldn't. Most would simply just have a bad day."

"No, this was combined with something big and powerful. Something that generated emotional acceleration of the kind that would be enough to cause people to simply scare themselves to death. The terror of reading those words, today is the day you die, would cause them to shut down, shut down completely." "Extraordinary, I've never seen anthing quite like this."

Dave "I have to say it is completely new to me as well."

Doctor "That only leaves four very important questions to answer”.

Dave “And what are they?”

Doctor “Who, what and why?”

Dave “You know that’s only three?”

Doctor “And, which star sign is next?”
